Being Single Sucks Sometimes

The title of this post is a bit misleading. I’ve been single for almost 3 years. Prior to that, I went on a few dates, but nothing stuck. Obviously. I’m ok with being single. I don’t have to tell anyone where I’m going (nowhere), who I’m hanging out with (my cats and Netflix), or what I’m buying with every penny of my money (washi tape and yarn…judge away). I can eat whatever I want and the only downside is gaining weight (whoops). I’m capable of fixing things myself, and if I can’t, my dad, brother, or uncle will do it. I love having the remote to myself and leaving dishes in the sink.

What I don’t love is getting awful news and not having a shoulder to cry on. I’m writing this post twenty minutes after I got the news that my grandma passed away. It wasn’t a surprise, but it sucks. I’m laying in bed with tears streaming down my face and if I want to talk to someone to distract me or ask for a tissue, it would be someone who could send a message via social media and not be able to grab that box of Kleenex and toss it my way. Don’t get me wrong. I love my friends. Truly. And the two I messaged? They both responded immediately. (Thank you!!) But it’s not the same as having someone here. The cats won’t even come near me right now. Jerks.

Sigh. Deep breath. Signing off. Because tomorrow is Friday and I have to work. No doubt I’ll have puffy eyes, but if I don’t attempt to get some sleep, I’ll have a migraine too, and that’s just too much for one day.
